The 11-month course is aimed at introducing students to bioinformatics and other quantitative aspects of modern biology and medicine. It is intended both for those whose first degree is in biology, and for mathematicians, computer scientists and others wishing to learn about the subject in preparation for a PhD course or a career in industry.
There are two course directors; Professor Simon Tavaré and Dr. Stephen Eglen. Professor Tavaré is a statistician with a distinguished record of research in computational biology who divides his time between the Departments of Oncology and Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics and Dr. Stephen Eglen is a computational neuroscientist based in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics.
The course has been developed by the Cambridge Computational Biology Institute and is run by the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at the Centre for Mathematical Sciences.
We are now considering applications for the academic year 2012-13.
The MPhil in Computational Biology Open Afternoon is due to take place on February 8th 2012. All welcome but please register if you would like to attend.
